Labels: bones, church, Gallery Pictures, Photos, pictures 0 commentsTruth is sometimes stranger than fiction, and how about 70 kilometers east the capital of the CzechRepublic, Prague, lies a small town called Sedlec.
It might have been an ordinary enough town, if not for its extraordinary church. The inside of this church is decorated with artworks made of real human bones.
The story begins in 1218, when a certain Abbot Henry made a pilgrimage to the holy land and brought back a jar full of soil from cemetery, which he spread over the Church.
As a result the church came to be regarded as more sacred and turned into a popular burial spot .
By 1318, more than 30,000 bodies were buried there and by 1511, it had become necessary to remove the older bones to make place for the new ones.
These later became the material for the macabre creations.
In 1870 a local woodcarver was hired by the Duke of Shwartzenberg to decorate the inside of the church with the human remains (approximately 40,000 sets of human bones).
Now it is one of the most extraordinary church in the whole world.... BoneyChurch - isn't it morbidly amazing???

" Triangle Building "
We wonder what type of work goes on inside this kind of a building. The unofficial Triangle Building is just a wonder to look at and to ponder over. But, can this be one of the evil headquarters for Scientology or Starbucks? Does this building have triangle bathrooms? There's so many damn questions! "Crooked House"
You know that your looking at a real building right? The Crooked House was built in 2004 as an addition at a popular shopping center, and is a major tourist attraction in Sopot , Poland . We just wonder what happens when someone who's under a controlled substance sees this building for the first time in their life."The Wilson Hall"
This somewhat modernize building was actually built between 1971 and 1974. It's unique design gives the Wilson Hall a great sense of structure, and a prominent landmark for the skyline. The building provides big laboratories, offices, and supports space for over 1500 scientists. And it houses all kinds of strange experiments. " Robot Building "
The Bank of Asia is a very famous building in Bangkok . It was made way back in 1985, and it's robotic appearance is just a symbol of the modernization of banking. It also has the ability to transform into a mega-robot. So, if Godzilla ever decided to show his green face in the land of Bangkok , they would have to fight! "Dancing House"
Here's a building that should really get your attention when walking pass it. The Dancing House is considered as one of the more real controversial buildings in Prague . The DH was actually designed by a great architect from California , which only proves that he had done some type of hallucinogen while designing itFuji Sankei Building in Tokyo
Why Dreams Come??
Wednesday, July 22, 2009 Labels: Dream, Health, human, Models, sleep 0 commentsDreams have always been a subject of fascination among philosophers and
researchers.
But only recently there have been clinical and lab studies about why do we
dream and
from where all those thoughts came from???
Chances are that you’ve often found yourself puzzling over the mysterious content
of a dream,
or perhaps you’ve wondered why you dream at all.
First, let’s start by answering a basic question – What is a dream? A dream can includeany of the
images, thoughts and emotions that experienced during sleep. Dreams can be
extraordinarily vivid
or very vague, filled with joyful emotions or frightening imagery; focused and
understandable or
unclear and confusing of the dreams.
proposed by scientists and researchers, none of them has been consensus. Some r
esearchers suggest that dreams serve no real purpose, while other believe that dreaming is
essential to mental, emotional and physical well-being. Ernest Hoffman, director of t
he Sleep Disorders Center at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Boston, Mass., suggests that
"...a possible (though certainly not proven) function of a dream to be weaving new material
into the memory system in a way that both reduces emotional arousal and is adaptive in
helping us cope with further trauma or stressful events.
Psychoanalytic Theory of Dreams:
Consistent with the psychoanalytic perspective, Sigmund Freud’s theory of
dreams suggested that dreams were a representation of unconscious desires,
thoughts and motivations. According to Freud’s psychoanalytic view of personality,
people are driven by aggressive and sexual instincts that are repressed from
conscious awareness. While these thoughts are not consciously expressed, Freud
suggested that they find their way into our awareness via dreams.
In his famous book The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud wrote that dreams are
"...disguised fulfillments of repressed wishes. He also described two different
components of dreams: manifest content and latent content. Manifest content i
s the actual images, thoughts and content contained within the dream,
while the latent content is the hidden psychological meaning of the dream.
Freud’s theory contributed to the popularity of dream interpretation, which
remains popular today. However, research has failed to demonstrate
that the manifest content disguises the real psychological significance of a dream.
Activation- Synthesis Model of Dreaming:
The activation-synthesis model of dreaming was first proposed by J. Allan Hobson
and Robert McClarley in 1977. According to this theory, circuits in the brain become a
ctivated during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, which causes areas of the limbic
system involved in emotions, sensations, and memories, including the amygdala
and hippocampus, become active. The brain synthesizes and interprets this
internal activity and attempts to find meaning in these signals, which results in
dreaming. This model suggests that dreams are a subjective interpretation of
signal generated by the brain during sleep.
While this theory suggests that dreams are the result of internally generated s
ignals, Hobson does not believe that dreams are meaningless. Instead, he suggests
that dreaming is “…our most creative conscious state, one in which the chaotic,
spontaneous recombination of cognitive elements produces novel configurations
of information: new ideas. While many or even most of these ideas may be
nonsensical, if even a few of its fanciful products are truly useful, our dream
time will not have been wasted.
Other Theories of Dreams:
Many other theories have been suggested to account for the occurrence and
meaning of dreams. The following are just of few of the proposed ideas:
One theory suggests that dreams are the result of our brain trying to interpret
external stimuli during sleep. For example, the sound of the radio may be
incorporated into the content of a dream.
· Another theory uses a computer metaphor to account for dreams. According
o tthis theory, dreams serve to ‘clean up’ clutter from the mind, much like
clean-up operations in a computer, refreshing the mind to prepare for the next day.
· Yet another model proposes that dreams function as a form of psychotherapy. I
n this theory, the dreamer is able to make connections between different thoughts
and emotions in a safe environment.
· A contemporary model of dreaming combines some elements of various theories.
The activation of the brain creates loose connections between thoughts and ideas, w
hich are then guided by the emotions of the dreamer.

How to improve your memory
Monday, July 20, 2009 Labels: Brain, Excerise, Health, Memory 0 commentsThe first and foremost thing to improve your memory is to make yourself believe that you can do it. If you can't make yourself believe that you can remember all your friends' contact nos, you wont be able to memorise it actually.
General guidelines to improve memory
In addition to exercising your brain, there are some basic things you can do to improve your ability to retain and retrieve memories.
1. Pay attention. You can’t remember something if you never learned it, and you can’t learn something — that is, encode it into your brain — if you don’t pay enough attention to it. It takes about eight seconds of intent focus to process a piece of information through your hippocampus and into the appropriate memory center. So, no multitasking when you need to concentrate! If you distract easily, try to receive information in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted.
Tailor information acquisition to your learning style. Most people are visual learners; they learn best by reading or otherwise seeing what it is they have to know. But some are auditory learners who learn better by listening. They might benefit by recording information they need and listening to it until they remember it.
Involve as many senses as possible. Even if you’re a visual learner, read out loud what you want to remember. If you can recite it rhythmically, even better. Try to relate information to colors, textures, smells and tastes. The physical act of rewriting information can help imprint it onto your brain.
Relate information to what you already know. Connect new data to information you already remember, whether it’s new material that builds on previous knowledge, or something as simple as an address of someone who lives on a street where you already know someone.
Organize information. Write things down in address books and datebooks and on calendars; take notes on more complex material and reorganize the notes into categories later. Use both words and pictures in learning information.
Understand and be able to interpret complex material. For more complex material, focus on understanding basic ideas rather than memorizing isolated details. Be able to explain it to someone else in your own words.
7. Rehearse information frequently and “over-learn”. Review what you’ve learned the same day you learn it, and at intervals thereafter. What researchers call “spaced rehearsal” is more effective than “cramming.” If you’re able to “over-learn” information so that recalling it becomes second nature, so much the better.
Be motivated and keep a positive attitude. Tell yourself that you want to learn what you need to remember, and that you can learn and remember it. Telling yourself you have a bad memory actually hampers the ability of your brain to remember, while positive mental feedback sets up an expectation of success.

Swine Influenza Virus (SIV)
Labels: AntiVirus, Health, India, RAW NEF, swine influenza virus (SIV), Virus 0 commentsSwine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu, and pig flu) refers to influenza
caused by those strains of influenza virus that usually infect pigs and are called
swine influenza virus (SIV). Swine influenza is common in pigs in the midwestern
United States (and occasionally in other states), Mexico, Canada, South America,
Europe (including the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy), Kenya, Mainland China,
Taiwan, Japan and other parts of eastern Asia.
In human, direct transmission of a swine flu virus from pigs to humans is occasionally
possible (this is called zoonotic swine flu). In all, 50 cases are known to have occurred since the
first report in the medical literature in 1958, which have resulted in a total of six deaths.
Of these six people, one was pregnant, one had leukemia, one had Hodgkin disease and
two were known to be previously healthy. Despite these apparently low numbers of infections, the true
rate of infection may be higher, since most cases only cause a very mild disease, and will probably never
be reported or diagnosed.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in humans the symptoms of the 2009
"swine flu" H1N1 virus are similar to those of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general.
Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
The 2009 outbreak has shown an increased percentage of patients reporting diarrhea and vomiting.
The 2009 H1N1 virus is not zoonotic swine flu, as it is not transmitted from pigs to humans, but from person
to person.
Because these symptoms are not specific to swine flu, a differential diagnosis of probable swine flu requires
not only symptoms but also a high likelihood of swine flu due to the person's recent history. For example,
during the 2009 Swine flu outbreak in the United States, CDC advised physicians to "consider swine influenza
infection in the differential diagnosis of patients with acute febrile respiratory illness who have either been
in contact with persons with confirmed swine flu, or who were in one of the five U.S. states that have reported
swine flu cases or in Mexico during the 7 days preceding their illness onset." A diagnosis of confirmed swine
flu requires laboratory testing of a respiratory sample (a simple nose and throat swab).
Treatment
If a person becomes sick with swine flu, antiviral drugs can make the illness milder and make the patient
feel better faster. They may also prevent serious flu complications. For treatment, antiviral drugs work best
if started soon after getting sick (within 2 days of symptoms). Beside antivirals, palliative care, at home or in
the hospitals, focuses on controlling fevers and maintaining fluid balance. The U.S. Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention recommends the use of Tamiflu (oseltamivir) or Relenza (Zanamivir) for the
treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine influenza viruses, however, the majority of people
infected with the virus make a full recovery without requiring medical attention or antiviral drugs. The virus
isolates in the 2009 outbreak have been found resistant to amantadine and rimantadine.
Prevention in humans
Prevention of pig to human transmission
Swine can be infected by both avian and human influenza strains of influenza, and therefore are hosts
where the antigenic shifts can occur that create new influenza strains.
The transmission from swine to human is believed to occur mainly in swine farms where farmers are in
close contact with live pigs. Although strains of swine influenza are usually not able to infect humans this
may occasionally happen, so farmers and veterinarians are encouraged to use a face mask when dealing with
infected animals. The use of vaccines on swine to prevent their infection is a major method of limiting swine
to human transmission. Risk factors that may contribute to swine-to-human transmission include smoking and
not wearing gloves when working with sick animals.
Prevention of human to human transmission
Influenza spreads between humans through coughing or sneezing and people touching something with the
virus on it and then touching their own nose or mouth. Swine flu cannot be spread by pork products,
since the virus is not transmitted through food. The swine flu in humans is most contagious during the first
five days of the illness although some people, most commonly children, can remain contagious for up to ten
days. Diagnosis can be made by sending a specimen, collected during the first five days for analysis.
Recommendations to prevent spread of the virus among humans include using standard infection control
against influeza. This includes frequent washing of hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand
sanitizers, especially after being out in public. Although the current trivalent influenza vaccine is unlikely to
provide protection against the new 2009 H1N1 strain, vaccines against the new strain are being developed
and could be ready as early as June 2009.
Experts agree that hand-washing can help prevent viral infections, including ordinary influenza and the
swine flu virus. Influenza can spread in coughs or sneezes, but an increasing body of evidence shows small
droplets containing the virus can linger on tabletops, telephones and other surfaces and be transferred via
the fingers to the mouth, nose or eyes. Alcohol-based gel or foam hand sanitizers work well to destroy viruses
and bacteria. Anyone with flu-like symptoms such as a sudden fever, cough or muscle aches should stay away
from work or public transportation and should contact a doctor to be tested.
Social distancing is another tactic. It means staying away from other people who might be infected and can include avoiding large gatherings, spreading out a little at work, or perhaps staying home and lying low if an infection is spreading in a community. Public health and other responsible authorities have action plans which social distancing actions to request or require depending on the severity of the outbreak.
